It can now be confirmed that Alhaji Alhassan Mbalba’s campaign team in Tamale successfully picked his nomination forms on 22nd August 2025. This important step was widely reported, and his name was mentioned by the NDC Regional Secretary during the JoyTV news bulletin yesterday. The excitement around his candidature continues to grow across Tamale Central and beyond.

Citizenship and Loyalty to Ghana
In recent weeks, some comrades have expressed concerns about Alhaji Mbalba’s citizenship. It is important to clear this matter once and for all.
Although Alhaji Mbalba became eligible to apply for British citizenship as far back as 2004, he made a conscious decision not to. He chose to remain a Ghanaian citizen because of his unshakable love for his motherland and his allegiance to the ideals of the NDC. He still holds only a Ghanaian passport.
This decision is a powerful statement of loyalty. Many others in his position would have pursued personal comfort abroad, but Alhaji Mbalba refused to trade his Ghanaian identity for foreign convenience. His commitment shows clearly that his heart, his loyalty, and his future are tied to Ghana, and specifically to Tamale Central.
Service and Contributions to Tamale Central
Alhaji Mbalba is not new to service. He has consistently demonstrated his dedication to the constituency and the region through concrete actions.
He donated bags of rice to the youth wing of the party, which were received by the Regional Secretary.
In 2024, he supported the Regional Zongo Caucus and Tolon Constituency with branded T-shirts, an effort confirmed by the Regional ZC Coordinator.
Beyond Tamale Central, his record as Chairman of the NDC UK and Ireland Chapter is evidence of strong leadership. Under his tenure, resources were mobilised, the diaspora became more organised, and the NDC’s presidential and parliamentary campaigns received strong backing both in 2020 and 2024.
A Candidate Rooted in the Constituency
With his nomination forms now picked, Alhaji Alhassan Mbalba has proven that he is ready to serve Tamale Central. His roots are here, his loyalty is unquestionable, and his record of service speaks for itself. He is not a stranger to sacrifice, not a stranger to service and not a stranger to the struggles of our people.
For Tamale Central, for the NDC, and for Ghana’s Resetting Agenda, Alhaji Alhassan Mbalba is the right candidate at the right time.
Forward ever, backwards never.
