The just-ended Tamale Central NDC parliamentary primaries, held on Saturday, 6th September 2025, marked a significant moment in the political life of our party, our constituency, and the wider diaspora community. While the outcome did not favour our candidate, Alhaji Alhassan Mbalba, it has revealed something far more powerful: the resilience, unity, and commitment of the diaspora in shaping the future of our great party.

Alhaji Alhassan Mbalba meets Prof. Alidu Seidu

We first wish to warmly congratulate Prof. Alidu Seidu on his victory. His success is a win for the NDC family, and we extend our best wishes to him as he prepares to lead Tamale Central into the upcoming by-election. We are confident that under his leadership, and with the support of all stakeholders, Tamale Central will continue to thrive and remain a stronghold for the NDC.

We especially recognise the tireless support of the NDC UK & Ireland Chapter, the various UK branches, the Germany and USA Chapters, and the Dagbon Union UK (DUUK). We also acknowledge with deep appreciation the contribution of Dagbon Union – Birmingham, whose financial support was crucial to sustaining our campaign. Your combined efforts, from generous donations to countless phone calls made to delegates, showed the true power of mobilisation and solidarity. Together, you demonstrated that the diaspora remains a vital pillar of the NDC and of Tamale Central’s future.

We also wish to acknowledge the overwhelming solidarity received from Ghanaians back home who supported the campaign in diverse ways. Our heartfelt thanks go to the chiefs, the clergy, and the community leaders whose wise counsel and prayers kept us grounded and focused. We equally extend gratitude to the Members of the NDC Council of Elders in the region and the constituency for their guidance and steadfast commitment.

In Alhaji Alhassan Mbalba’s own words:

“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported my campaign to become the parliamentary candidate for Tamale Central. Although the outcome was not as expected, we are thankful to Allah for the peaceful primaries. I am in good spirits and had the opportunity to visit Prof. Alidu Seidu at his residence to offer formal congratulations. I pledged to collaborate with him and other stakeholders to drive development in Tamale Central and Dagbon as a whole. I urge my fellow former aspirants to join Prof. Alidu Seidu in this endeavour.”

As we look forward, let us remain engaged, committed, and united. The campaign for Alhaji Alhassan Mbalba may have ended, but the larger mission of diaspora mobilisation, party growth, and national development continues with renewed vigour. This unity, which has been our greatest strength, must now be channelled into supporting Prof. Alidu Seidu to secure victory for the NDC in the upcoming by-election.

Together, we will ensure that Tamale Central remains a proud symbol of the NDC’s vision and resilience.
