By Chief (Naba) Cllr. Dr. Dominic Mbang (Chairman of NDC South London and Past Mayor of Royal Greenwich)

First and foremost, let me extend heartfelt thanks to everyone who has spoken so positively and passionately about our brother, our own, Alhaji Alhassan Mbalba. The encouraging words shared reflect not only the respect he commands but also the faith we all hold in his ability to lead with distinction.

There is no denying the truth: Alhaji Alhassan Mbalba is as qualified, in fact with added political experience and exposure, as any potential candidate for Tamale Central. For too long, we have overlooked the rich contributions of comrades from the diaspora, even when they are deeply rooted in their regions, speak the language fluently, and have invested their time, energy, and resources in both Ghana and abroad for the advancement of the party.

Alhaji Alhassan Mbalba has not only served the NDC with loyalty and commitment, but he has also served his kinsmen faithfully in the UK. As Chairman of the Dagbon Union, he supported his people here in the diaspora while extending the same hand of support back home in Tamale. His service is both local and international, community-driven and people-centred, a true reflection of leadership that puts others first.

Year after year, he has stood firm, serving with dedication and distinction. It is high time that our party leadership, from the branch to the constituency, regional, and national levels, acknowledge and recognise this fact. The time is now to affirm that a comrade from the diaspora should not only be welcomed but also supported when they seek to contest in their home constituencies.

This is not simply about one man’s ambition; it is about fairness, about equal opportunity, and about the recognition that the diaspora is an integral arm of the party’s lifeblood. Alhaji Alhassan Mbalba’s candidacy for Tamale Central represents more than a personal milestone. It is a symbol of the bridge between those at home and those abroad, a living testimony that service to the party knows no boundaries.

The journey will not be easy. It requires conversation, pressure, and advocacy from the grassroots to the national executive. It requires that we mobilise immediate financial support for Alhaji Alhassan Mbalba’s bid. It also calls on our comrades in Tamale Central Constituency to stand shoulder to shoulder with us, putting pressure on both regional and national executives to allow this candidacy to flourish.

Each of us has a role to play. Whether in Ghana or abroad, let us all make our voices heard in our own ways. Let us send a clear message: the diaspora is not asking for favour, but for fairness, for equal opportunity, and for recognition of the tireless sacrifices made for the progress of our great party.

As for me, I declare my full support for Alhaji Alhassan Mbalba, alongside my strong executives and members of Great South London. Together, we stand ready to give our all to this cause.

With greetings from Naba, let us rise with one voice, one purpose, and one resolve, to see our brother Alhaji Alhassan Mbalba take his rightful place in the leadership of Tamale Central.
